1958年、当時アスガー・ヨルンのいたコペンハーゲンで印刷され、「友人たちにだけ配付された」ギー・ドゥボール最初の著作。以後1992年まで非流通状態。紙ヤスリの表紙（表紙に紙ヤスリを使用しているのは、隣に並ぶ本に損傷を与えるため）、転用の表現、その構想と形態において他に類を見ないシチュアシオニスト・インターナショナルの2人による伝説の1冊。
既存の印刷物（文、図版、コミックなど）の「転用」と、ヨルンによるアクショ ン・ペインティングをシルクスクリーンによって印刷をした模様、これらだけで構成されたこの書籍は、1952年と1953年のレトリスト・インターナショナルの活動を回願した一種の自伝である。
今回の復刊では、1958年に出版された時と同様に紙ヤスリを起用し、現代で独自の装丁をアルゼンチンの出版社Homo faberが限定50部のみで発刊。アート・デザインだけでなく、建築をはじめとした都市開発、そしてパンクをはじめとした音楽、映画、様々な文化に以後シチュアシオニスト・インターナショナルは多大な影響を与えていきました。今も色褪せることなく受け継がれている本作は当時の熱狂的な時代の記憶を呼び起こさせます。90年代に再販されて以降、現在も絶版状態が続いている”Mémoires”がアルゼンチンで待望の復刊です。翻訳とエピローグは詩人のバルバラ・ベロックが担当。
