タイトルにもなっている Pelle di Lava（溶岩の肌） は、2022年に発生した二つの災害に由来しています。それは、島の植生を荒廃させた火災と、それに続く集中豪雨による土砂崩れです。この土砂崩れは村にまで到達し、大きな影響をもたらしました。インデリカートは本プロジェクトを通じて環境危機について考察し、自然とのアニミズム的な関係や、この壊れやすい土地を守る権利を訴えています。火山そのものが代弁者となり、繊細な大地を守るために、生きているかのように表現しています。彼女は、コーヒー、ビタミンC、海水などの汚染物質を含まない素材を使って写真を現像し、自身の創作プロセスと荒々しくも不屈の島との間に有機的なつながりを築いています。
 
Art book by Chiara Indelicato, a photographer based on the island of Stromboli. This book is about life on a volcanic island and follows people living in a limited world at the mercy of the forces of nature.
Under the ash, between the sea and the volcano, the author explores how to survive in an environment with limited resources.
The title Pelle di Lava (Skin of Lava) comes from two disasters that occurred in 2022. They are the fire that devastated the island's vegetation and the subsequent landslide caused by torrential rains. The landslides reached the village and had a major impact. Through this project, Indelicato reflects on the environmental crisis and calls for an animistic relationship with nature and the right to protect this fragile land. The volcano itself becomes a voice and is represented as if it were alive to protect the sensitive land. She develops her photographs using pollutant-free materials such as coffee, vitamin C and seawater, forging an organic link between her own creative process and the rugged, unyielding island.
