Roni Ahn / The City And All It Holds
“This collection of works, created during the pandemic of the new coronavirus, reflects a special relationship between people and places that will not fade even when you open the page again in 5 or 10 years.”
A collection of works by Roni Ahn, a photographer based in London and Hong Kong.
In an era when the connections between people are becoming weaker, isn't it important to turn our attention to familiar existences and environments? Born in South Korea and raised in Hong Kong, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted Ahn to return to his hometown of Hong Kong.
“When the COVID-19 pandemic began last year, I returned to my hometown of Hong Kong and explored the various relationships between the young people of Hong Kong, their closest lover, family, friends, and the scenery that surrounds them. At a time when it is often difficult to visit loved ones and the loneliness is increasing, I thought it might be meaningful to photograph the human connection with those closest to us. The series, which spans 10 groups, is filmed in different parts of Hong Kong, and each location has particular significance to their relationship." - Roni Ahn
The first collection of works by Earn, who is also active in the field of fashion photography. When we use the term fashion photography, we tend to think of the image that comes before it, but in this work, we can sense the intimate and deep relationships between people and places. This collection of works was created while the new coronavirus was raging all over the world, but it is a work that will make you forget about the situation. And when I think back to what was created under that situation, I open the page again and again and look back.
