    A collection of works by American visual artist John Divola.

    “Shortly after Zuma, I did a series of straighter shots of the abandoned backyard of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in Culver City, Los Angeles. Around 1980, I started working on a series of works about things that cannot be photographed, such as gravity, magnetism, the way water flows, and what you see when you press your eyes with your palm. It was.

    At the time, we were also transitioning from the color negative film used for Zuma to large-format positive film. The early C-type color prints faded badly, so I wanted a new material that was more stable. The highly industrialized, artificial, deeply saturated and contrasted prints in this series are all Cibachrome and printed directly from positive film. Cibachrome was a very flawed material for traditional photographic painting, but it had such unique properties that we ended up using it. ”

    This is a collection of unpublished works (mainly works produced in the early 80's) created after the author's representative work Zuma. In the dialogue recorded at the end of the book, he points out how we perceive things today in terms of "color" and the shape of "color". In this collection of works "CHROMA", by attaching color filters and snoot to the strobe, it shakes up the perception of us viewers, like a parallel world, a strange world that is familiar but somehow feels strange.
