Born in Newark, New Jersey. Poet, writer, thinker, social activist
Privately learn piano, drums, and trumpet. Studied philosophy and religion at Howard University, Columbia University, etc. In the early 1960s, he was widely recognized for his poetry, screenplays, and jazz criticism, and in 1963, he published the first jazz research book by a black author, ``Blues People~Negro Music in White America.'' Publication. In 1965, he published a collection of criticisms, ``HOME'' (Japanese title: ``Baseji''), and in 1967, a collection of jazz criticisms, ``Black Music'' (Japanese title: ``Black Music''). Since 1980, he has been teaching at the State University of New York. In 2008, he won the PEN Open Book Award for Tales of the Out and the Gone. Baraka's career spans more than 50 years, and his themes range from black liberation to white racism. Baraka's plays, poems, and essays constitute the defining texts of African American culture, and he has also published books on Beatonics.
